My Satin Wedding Gown for a Festive Georgia Outdoor Wedding

We did the ceremony at The Venue at Tumlin Lake in Georgia. Honestly, the place was really pretty. Lots of pine trees, a lake behind us, and that golden sunset hitting the water. They set up this wooden cross by the water with some poinsettias and a tiny Christmas tree around it, super holiday-feeling. And those white folding chairs were all lined up for the guests.

So I ordered my dress online. Yes, blindly online. I'm normally so bad at buying clothes without trying them on, but I just loved how it looked—off-the-shoulder, sleek satin, and that red panel running down the skirt.

I paired it with red strappy heels to match that little pop of red. It came in, I tried it on, and thank god, the size 2 fit me perfectly without needing any tailoring. That never happens to me.

The veil was super long with little sparkly beads stitched everywhere. The thing is, I kept stepping on it while walking down the aisle. I literally had to pause and yank it up at one point, lol. But it did look really pretty catching the light, so I guess it was worth the struggle.

Also, satin looks beautiful in pictures but I was terrified I'd get it dirty or sweat through it. I mean, the hem got a bit dusty and wrinkled from dragging on the dry grass, but you can't really tell unless you stare at the bottom edge.

It didn't feel too heavy or suffocating, which was my biggest worry for an outdoor thing. The high slit gave me enough room to walk around the lawn normally.

The red stripe inside the skirt ended up being everyone's favorite thing to point out, which was cool. Honestly, I was just relieved it didn't look awful in person like some online dresses do. Glad I trusted my gut on that one. Okay that's it, lol.
