Indianapolis Public Library Wedding: What I Wore and How the Dress Held Up

So we went to this wedding. Husband's colleague from the uni—same department, I think? Some lecturer. Anyway, invite came, I knew it'd be that crowd. You know the type. Smart people, formal talk, probably quoting things.

We get to the Indianapolis library, that big glass place, and I swear I kept looking for Sheldon. Not even joking. The building is wild—glass ceiling, huge white columns, blue banners hanging all over. Felt like a set.

Took some photos by the wooden walls with all those writer names carved in. Achebe, Ellison, Giovanni—I recognized a few.

Didn't plan that, just happened to stand there. Turned out cooler than the usual flower arch.

The dress. Black, long, sequins. No sleeves. Took me forever to find something for black tie. I'm 5'5" and 175, and my weight's just... chest, stomach, hips. You know how hard it is. This one actually looked really nice in the pictures. The sequins caught the light, not too flashy. And it wasn't expensive, which surprised me.

But man, the sequins. They scratch. By the end of the night my arms were all red, especially under the armpits. If your skin is sensitive, don't even think about it. Also the straps were too long—I'm not flat-chested, but there was this weird gap in front. Gotta shorten them maybe an inch. Annoying but fixable.

Everything else was fine though. It draped okay over my hips, and the length worked. So if you're curvy and need a cheap sequin gown, go for it—just get the straps altered and bring lotion.

Anyway, the wedding itself was fun. Academic crowd, library setting, black tie. And I didn't feel like I was drowning in my dress, which is a win. Probably remember this one. Even with the scratchy arms.
