The Color Was My First Surprise

When the package arrived, my first reaction was: wait, this is not white. On the website, the dress looked crisp and ivory-bright, almost snow-white. In person, it had a much warmer tone — creamy, with an almost buttery undertone.

I had a moment of disappointment because I had already imagined bright white heels with pearl jewelry. Then I actually put the dress on. With my cream-colored shoes and pearl choker, the warmer shade looked much more believable for the vintage setting. The adjustable back can take in extra room at the waist — it cannot create more space across the bust.

For the event, I kept the styling simple: soft retro waves, a small white flower clip, my pearl choker, and delicate pearl earrings. The combination felt much more natural than trying to accessorize every detail with obvious vintage pieces.

Several people actually asked if the dress was authentic vintage. For me, that was probably the best compliment. It blended into the setting well enough that people focused on the overall look rather than wondering whether every piece was genuinely from the 1940s.
